Investigations & Surveillance

3/8/2023

TCG has witnessed the growing demand for surveillance and investigation services to protect businesses from a wide range of threats.
These services are increasingly critical in safeguarding companies against corporate espionage, fraud, theft, and other criminal activities.

Surveillance services can play a significant role in supporting security operations.
By monitoring critical areas, such as data centres, warehouses, and manufacturing plants, businesses can prevent unauthorised access and detect suspicious behaviour. This can be achieved using advanced technologies like video cameras and motion detectors to provide real-time alerts and enable remote monitoring.

Surveillance services can also help identify and prevent internal risks.
By monitoring employee behaviour, organisations can detect misconduct such as stealing company assets or leaking confidential information. Discreet surveillance can minimise the risk of backlash or legal repercussions and ensure employees remain unaware of the monitoring.

Counter-surveillance measures are crucial for businesses as they are increasingly being targeted by rival companies, hackers or foreign governments seeking to steal sensitive information or gain a competitive advantage. Counter-surveillance measures can help detect and neutralise such threats by identifying potential surveillance activities and implementing measures to prevent them.

Investigation services are equally important in protecting businesses from threats.
These services can investigate fraud, embezzlement, and other crimes that can negatively impact a company's finances and reputation.
Skilled investigators can gather evidence, interview witnesses and build a strong case that can be used in court to recover lost assets and prosecute offenders.
Investigation services can also identify and neutralise internal threats. For example, employees engaging in illegal activities or violating company policies.
Discreet investigations can minimise disruption to business operations and prevent the disclosure of sensitive information.

In conclusion, surveillance and investigation services are critical in supporting security operations and protecting businesses from various threats.
By employing these services, organisations can enhance their security posture, prevent loss of assets, and safeguard their reputation.

Security is Evolving, Corporate Sector

3/8/2023

Outcomes of lessons learned post 2020, have driven a significant shift in the way comercial entities work, analysing at the Cov-19 pandemic, shifts in corporate culture, shifts in technology and capabilities, rising costs, all of which are causing shifts, in the way most of us think about security.
As we all continue to strive forward, organisations, corporations, comercial entities, are exploring how and when to implement their staff returning to the office setting.
Many companies are considering long-term remote or hybrid work models that would see staff continue to work from home or only come on-site intermittently. With these new work models gaining traction, workplace security is set for a serious reboot.

Traditionally;

Commercial and corporate security pitfalls have traditionally been concentrated on man-made, predictable, high-liability but low-impact events & were generally limited to physical asset protection within the dimension of the property portfolio.
Security has infrequently been seen as a business enabler & more  frequently it has been perceived as an expendable business cost with the commercial security threat operation on first in line for budget cuts in time of difficulty. Now, threat operation is no longer simply about the man-made & controllable events. Although pitfalls haven't changed that much, the changing profile of pots & technological advancements have created a range of new vulnerabilities.

Traditional security vulnerabilities coupled with digital & environmental pitfalls, may affect changeable & disastrous events for a commercial operation. currently, there's lesser appreciation of the interdependence between a company’s threat portfolio & the way it does business which can induce pitfalls that would not  else live, performing in security having a much advanced profile in the commercial world moment than it did  ahead. pots are looking for new ways to manage these pitfalls & the portfolio of the security department has widened to include participated responsibility for effects similar as commercial character & brand protection, commercial governance & regulation, commercial marketable protection & social responsibility.

Present;
Global security pitfalls continue to be affected by  multitudinous factors, manifesting in terror related activities, political uncertainly & security, pitfalls to people, places, data & products. Controversial public  choices, demurrers & public pressures continue to act as a  memorial of the tinderbox of socio- political &  profitable issues that  reverberate encyclopedically. Social pressures continue to drive increased nationalism, populism & far-right political groups into action, performing in grueling operating  surroundings for chains & in some cases increased far right terror  pitfalls. The broader terrorism trouble encyclopedically remains.

Both state & non-state actors, including felonious groups & activists, will look to continue to exploit sins as cyber pitfalls develop alongside new technological invention. Successfulcyber-attacks on sensitive information will erode trust in governments & large companies who fail to  cover their information effectively, with increased  pitfalls around  individualities with access to sensitive areas, information & systems. By its  veritably  description, commercial security is designed to cover company means & covers everything that makes the company successful, from the people to the products & services.
Commercial security is one of the central commercial operations.
Corporate security identifies & effectively mitigates or manages, at an early stage, any developments that may hang  the adaptability & continued survival of a portfolio & its utmost precious assets,
which are its  workers.
It also refers to the practice of  guarding  guests, physical property, impalpable means & processes.

Integration;
Commercial security must be enabled to act as if a single platoon, able to identify, assess and recommend risk and threat mitigation across the entire portfolio. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
Maintaining commercial collaborations like company-wide training, incident drills or workers who go above & beyond to apply commercial security minimizing weak links that could  hamper progress.
Commercial security has  numerous crucial places within an association, similar as threat operation,  extremity operation, information security, crime discovery, fraud deterrence, physical security,  examinations & business  durability planning. It also identifies & implements all necessary legal measures.

Commercial security  programs live to cover the portfolio of the comercial entity, from any kind of unlawful exertion & to give legal support when incidents  do. The only way to ensure the success of this ideal is to develop commercial security programs with legal precedents in mind.
Security strategies, procedures & protocols must be developed to  ensure a close collaboration of all functions within the portfolio that are concerned with security, durability & safety.
Corporations face multitudinous challenges when it comes to security.
Failure to enable & help security issues can beget endless damage to a corporation's, character, people &  installations. Commercial entities that don't apply to the right security enterprise and strategies, will have a hard time avoiding threats and mitigating risks.

Lack of security programs unified across a commercial portfolio, can affect an entities nethermost line & character. This alone is sufficient reason for it to be high up on every board's docket.
Security is both a strategic & functional exertion. By developing a commercial security threat assessment,  corporations can insure safe working practices for all workers & the business as a whole.
Numerous portfolio's are still using a traditional, protective approach to commercial security, which is now perceived as a dis-enabler of business.

SIA Further Reduction to Licence Fee

2/25/2023

0 Comments

Picture
From 6 April 2023, the cost of applying for an individual SIA licence for any sector in the regulated private security industry will be reduced to £184.

This is the lowest fee ever since licensing was introduced in 2004. The reduction applies to both new applicants and those renewing existing licences.

Licence holders applying for an additional licence after this date will pay 50% of the new reduced fee.
The reduction has been possible due to various efficiency and cost savings the SIA has made. These savings have also enabled the SIA to increase its resourcing for its inspection and enforcement work, bolstering its footprint and visibility across the UK without increasing the licence fee. The SIA has doubled the number of staff working in intelligence, inspections, and criminal investigations.
The £6 reduction is on top of the existing £20 reduction in fees funded from previous historical surpluses under a rebate scheme approved by the Treasury, which will continue until 2026. It also represents a three percent efficiencies savings in the SIA’s operational costs. The SIA has committed to continue to work hard on further costs savings and efficiencies to keep the licence fee as low as possible.
SIA Chief Executive Michelle Russell said: "The licence payers and public rightly expect us to be as efficient and as economic as possible, providing value for money for those we regulate, while delivering on key public safety agendas. We recognise that £6 may feel like a small amount to many, but in the context of the cost-of-living challenges, for some, every pound counts."
This latest reduction brings the licence fee down to less than it was 19 years ago when licensing was first introduced. We remain committed to regulating the private security industry effectively and efficiently keeping the cost to licence holders as low as possible.
At £184, the new licence fee is at its lowest it has ever been. If adjusted at inflation levels since 2004 the current fee level would be £350.
Further information:
  • The individual licence fee reduction applies to applications received from 6 April.
  • If an application has not yet reached payment stage on 6 April 2023 it can be cancelled, and the application can be resubmitted on or after 6 April. If payment has already been processed for an application, it cannot be refunded as significant work to process it will have already been completed.
  • The Security Industry Authority is the organisation responsible for regulating the private security industry in the United Kingdom, reporting to the Home Secretary under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA’s main duties are the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities and managing the voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme.
